Submitted articles to the journal Geography and Urban Research are checked for plagiarism using similarity detection software such as Irandoc and SamimNoor for Persian texts, and plagiarism detection software for English abstracts. In case plagiarism is detected in either the Persian text or the English abstract, the journal office will immediately reject the article and blacklist the authors for a period of five years. Therefore, all authors are strongly advised to check the full text of their articles using plagiarism detection software before submission. Academic plagiarism includes the appropriation of ideas and words from other authors, verbatim copying in the expression of ideas, structural similarities in writing, or claiming the ideas and words of others as one's own without proper citation. If another author's work is quoted, the quoted material must be enclosed in quotation marks, with the page number clearly indicated. The journal office will reject any article found to be involved in plagiarism or self-plagiarism upon detection. During the article review process, if it is determined that an article has violated plagiarism, copyright, or publication ethics guidelines, it will be rejected (prior to acceptance for publication), and if already published, it will be "discredited" due to plagiarism. |
Disqualification Policy |
An article may be retracted if its findings are deemed unreliable due to research misconduct, scientific errors, plagiarism of previously published works, or violations of publication ethics guidelines. When the integrity and authenticity of a published work is significantly compromised due to errors in the execution, analysis, or reporting of the research, the article may be subject to retraction. Violations of ethical principles in research or publication may also lead to the retraction of the study. The original article will be marked as "retracted," but a PDF version will remain accessible to readers, with a retraction statement linked to the original article. Retraction statements typically include a declaration of the authors' agreement or disagreement with the retraction. |
Informed Consent of Research Participants |

The informed consent documentation must be kept on file and archived in accordance with national regulations or local laws, either at the journal's office, the researchers' workplace, or both. |
Adherence to Ethical Principles and Informed Consent |
Researchers are required to ensure the physical and mental well-being of participants throughout the research process, exercising the utmost care and adhering to ethical research standards. Adherence to medical ethics, the anonymity of participants, and the confidentiality of patient information are fundamental principles that must be upheld. The code of protection for human subjects, derived from the Helsinki Declaration, must be respected, and the ethical approval from the university's ethics committee must be included with the manuscript submission. In studies involving human participants, informed consent must be obtained from adult participants as well as from the parents or legal guardians of minor participants. If animals are involved in the research, proper care and the guidelines for the use of laboratory animals must be followed. The publication of clinical trials in medical journals within the country is conditional upon registration with the Iranian Clinical Trials Registry (IRCT) at (www.IRCT.ir).
