- Authors are required to download, complete, and sign the Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form, and submit it as a supplementary file along with the manuscript.
- Authors must also download, complete, and sign the Author Declaration and Copyright Agreement Form, and submit it along with the manuscript during the initial submission.
- Manuscripts must be prepared strictly in accordance with the journal's formatting guidelines. Authors are advised to download the Author Guidelines and use the official manuscript template available on the journal’s website.
- Important Note: For purposes of academic integrity and authenticity, submissions must be made using an official institutional or academic email address. Submissions from generic or personal email accounts (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo) will not be accepted.
To ensure timely review and publication, authors are required to carefully adhere to the following editorial and formatting instructions:
- The submitted manuscript must represent original scientific research and should not have been previously published, either in national or international journals, or presented in conference proceedings. Simultaneous submission to another journal is strictly prohibited.
- Note 1: Submissions based on conference presentations will only be considered if only the abstract has been published, and the full details of the event are explicitly cited.
- Note 2: Review articles will be accepted only from authors with proven expertise and a strong publication record in the subject area. Such articles must be grounded in a broad and rigorously documented body of literature.
- The journal’s primary language is Persian, though submissions in English are also welcome and will be subject to the same standards of scholarly review.
- Manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatically correct, and academically appropriate language.
- The maximum length of a manuscript—including all tables, figures, and references—should not exceed 16 pages. The editorial board assumes no responsibility for processing or publishing submissions that exceed this limit.
Manuscript Structure and Components:
- Title Page:
- Full title in Persian and English
- Persian abstract (up to 250 words)
- Up to five Persian keywords
- English abstract

- Note 1: The manuscript must not contain any identifying information about the authors (names, affiliations, etc.) in the main text or metadata.
- Note 2: All foreign terms must be translated accurately into Persian with the original terms and acronyms footnoted at first mention.
- Note 3: All visual elements (maps, charts, graphs) must serve a substantive function and include geographical coordinates, scale bars, and north arrows where appropriate.
- Extended Abstracts: Authors must submit an extended abstract in both Persian and English (between 750 to 1000 words) in a separate file, structured as follows:
- Introduction
- Methodology
- Results and discussion
- Conclusion
- Keywords
- Extended Abstract: Introduction, Methodology, Results and discussion, Conclusion, Keywords.
Manuscript Formatting Guidelines:
- The manuscript must be typed using Microsoft Word, with 3 cm margins on all sides and 1 cm line spacing throughout the document.
- The article title must be in B Mitra Bold, size 13.
The abstract text should be typed in B Mitra Regular, size 12.
All section headings must be in B Mitra Bold, size 13.
The main Persian text must be written in B Mitra Regular, size 13, and the English text should be in Times New Roman, size 11.
The reference list should be in B Mitra Regular, size 12.
- Each table must include a number and title (caption), center-aligned and placed above the table, using B Mitra Bold, size 10.
- Tables should be numbered consecutively starting from 1, and inserted immediately after their first mention in the text.
- The content inside tables should follow these formatting rules:
- Units of measurement must be clearly stated in the tables.
- Leave one blank line before and after each table.
- If the table is sourced from a reference, the reference number must appear in parentheses at the end of the table caption.
- All maps, graphs, and illustrations are categorized as “Figures”.
- Each figure must have a number and caption, center-aligned and placed below the figure, using B Mitra Bold, size 10.
- Figures must be numbered sequentially starting from 1, and appear directly after being cited in the text.
- Figures may be in color or black-and-white, but must be visually distinguishable when printed in grayscale.
- All figures must include units of measurement, and all figures must be referenced in the main body of the manuscript.
- Ensure that labels, quantities, and legends in figures are sufficiently large and clearly legible after resizing.
- Leave one blank line before and after each figure.

Important Guidelines for the Reference List Formatting:
- Internet Sources:
In the case of internet sources, alongside the prescribed citation method, the full URL of the source must be included, followed by the access date in parentheses.
- Ordering and Quantity of Sources:
The reference list should be arranged alphabetically. The number of references must not be fewer than 20.

- Inclusion of Persian References:
At the end of the article, in the "References" section, Persian references should also be listed in English.
- Translation of Persian Sources:
When translating Persian sources, please refer to the original documents. Use of machine translation services, such as Google Translate, is not acceptable. Furthermore, all article links must be provided.
- Marking Translated Persian Sources:
For translated Persian sources, the annotation [In Persian] should be added in square brackets at the end of the reference.
- Alphabetical Order:
The references should be organized alphabetically according to the English alphabet.
- Note1: When citing theses or dissertations, it is mandatory to include the name of the thesis advisor, the specific field of study, and the name of the university.
- Note2: Articles derived from student theses or dissertations should include the names of the thesis advisor(s), along with the student’s name, and will be published under the responsibility of the supervising faculty member.
Further Considerations:
- Responsibility for Scientific and Legal Accuracy:
The responsibility for the accuracy of the article, both scientifically and legally, rests with the author(s).
- Editorial Rights:
Geography and Urban Research retains the right to accept, reject, or edit articles based on editorial discretion.
- Page Limit:
Each article must not exceed the maximum allowable length of 16 pages.
- Archiving of Rejected or Withdrawn Articles:
Articles that are either rejected or withdrawn will be removed from the journal's archive after a period of three months, and the journal will assume no responsibility in this matter.
- Repository policy: Geography and Urban Research allows authors to deposit the final published version of their articles (Version of Record) immediately after publication, without any embargo period, in institutional, national, or other open access repositories, as well as on the authors’ personal websites, provided that full and proper citation to the journal’s published version is given.
